Miyamoto states that there won't be any new suits for Mario in Super Mario Galaxy 2

Shigeru Miyamoto has stated that Mario won't be getting any new suits in the upcoming sequel to Super Mario Galaxy.
There however will be many power-ups for Yoshi to use, such as getting speed boosts or turning Yoshi into a balloon.

Super Mario Galaxy will also be getting a new feature which gives a time slowdown effect, Miyamoto didn't give many details about this new feature, but it has been assumed that it is to help new gamers like the "Demo Play" feature New Super Mario Brothers Wii is getting.

That's lame. I was expecting some more unique suits for Mario, but atleast Yoshi is getting some....eh still. Mario wont be with Yoshi non-stop(I hope anyways), would have been nice to have some fresh power ups.
