E3 2009: Super Mario Galaxy 2 Revealed for Wii

Two new Mario games, on one console, announced within minutes? Unbelievable, but it happened! After opening the show with New Super Mario Bros. Wii Nintendo blew everyone away with the one thing they weren't expecting; another Mario Wii title.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the first true sequel to a 3D Mario title, and the first time two 3D Mario adventures will appear on the same console. A trailer showed Mario running around the spherical world, this time with the help of Yoshi. Aside from that it looked very similar to the game we saw back in 2007, but that's what we would expect from a direct sequel.

We don't have a release date yet, but permission to go crazy with excitement.

I was pretty let down when they annouced New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I mean that looks fun and I'll probably play it but it nothing like 3d Mario titles.

So when they pulled a surprise off like this at the end... well I'm certainly excited. Galaxy was just as good as Mario64 and really deserves to be the first true Mario sequel!
