Mario Kart Wii - The Real Mushroom? - 9/10
Mario Kart is back!! With it's amazing addictive fun, extraordinary items and it's many unlock ables. It's Mario first 'Kart' game on the Wii, and it came with high expectations. Wi-Fi against up to 12 players in the one race, Motorcycles and it's many new characters and race courses. Mario Kart first started in 1993 (EUR) the original game was named
Super Mario Kart. It only has 8 play-able characters, and 4 Cups with 5 race track in each cup, so twenty all together. Then in 1997 (EUR)
Mario Kart 64 came out with a bang, featuring the ever so popular, Power Slide. In Mario Kart 64 AI opponents could not use shells to harm the Human Player. Then there was
Mario Kart Super Circuit in 2001 (EU), which was the first Mario Kart game to hit a hand held console, later on in 2003 (EU)
Mario Kart: Double Dash!! came onto the new console called the Game-Cube. Following that title was Mario Kart DS, released in 2005 (EU). This is where the Power Slide was abused, the 'technique' was called
Snaking. Mario Kart DS was the first Mario Kart game to have online Multi-player, and was the second Mario Kart game on a hand held console. The latest Mario Kart came out 24/4/08 (AU). You can no longer 'Snake' and in this game, and there is now Motorcycles that you can race with.

OMG! I GOINZ TO OWNZ YOU!!!! ... The excitement, the thrills and more importantly, the fun. Mario Kart brings all of this into one race whether it's on Wi-Fi, with a mate or just in Single Player. Mario Kart will provide you with your daily needs of fun and excitement. You can be coming first and be close to the finish line and still come last, you can be coming last near the finish line and still take first place. How? It's all in the items, the way Mario Kart is made, is that if you're coming last or near last, you'll get more powerful items than that of the person coming first or close to first. That's what makes it so exhilarating. Mario Kart Wii is like the previous versions, you have Grand Prix, Time Trials, VS and Battle. Grand Prix is basically Single Player, you have to win to obtain the cups which give you unlock ables, in 50CC, 100CC and 150CC. There's something new with Time Trials in Mario Kart Wii. (This is where the Mario Kart Wii Channel comes into play.) It's that you now can download race 'ghosts' from all over the world and put them onto your Wii and try to beat it. VS is where you can practice, but with AI so then you can find out all tricks that they may try to pull on you so you know how to avoid them online. Battle is also a little different, it still has Balloon Battle, but now there is another mode too, Coin Runner. In Coin Runner you must collect the most coins you can before time runs out. And for the first time, Battle Mode is playable over Wi-Fi.

...Shiny...Shiny... *Dribbles* *Dribbles More* Oh, I do love nice looking game, graphically speaking. Mario Kart Wii is the best looker of them all, but
Mario Kart: Double Dash!! isn't far behind. Now it has nice sun-effects which does improve have deep you can get into the game. The item boxes have never looked better, they actually look pretty fantastic. As mentioned on
Good Game the Wii does have some frame rate issues when in 4-Player Battle Mode, although it's not too bad. The graphics aren't the best from the Wii but they are still above decent. The effects of getting blow up aren't that much different from that of Double Dash, but slightly better. When driving into a Light-Speed Vortex, it looks amazing, especially RainBow Road. Another thing I noticed about RainBow Road is that the colours are much lighter than in previous version, I don't think it does justice, but that's up to you, to decide. Nintendo are always improving on this aspect of the game, but not by too much. I can't imagine a fully- detailed Mario Kart game, showing sweat on the drivers. It just wouldn't be the same Mario Kart.

I shot-gun using the Wii Wheel!!... Oh,Man... Okay, here... *Evil Laugh* Packed with Mario Kart Wii is the newly made, piece of plastic, Wii Wheel. The Wii Wheel in my opinion is actually harder to use than the Game-Cube Controller. The Wii Wheel is quite unresponsive and hard to do tricks or wheelies. The Wii Remote and Nunchuck make a good couple, but it just doesn't feel right, using two controllers to play a racing game. The Classic Controller is nearly the same as the Game-Cube Controller, except it's smaller and lacks the Rumble Feature which lets it down. The Game-Cube controller feels right for this game, it's button map is great and suites well with Mario Kart Wii. This is the first time a Mario Kart game has had multiple control options, and boy they did think right. The controls can suite anyone, you've got 5 options. Wii Wheel, Wii Remote, Wii Remote and Nunchuck, Classic Controller and the Game-Cube Controller. But the Wii Remote is nearly the same as using the Wii Wheel, but slightly easier.

Grunts and Growls... they actually sound better. When selecting players, the sound each makes is a lot better, but Mario sounds a bit different. The sound of the Karts aren't too bad, but have been improved. The soundtracks are great, especially on the newer race tracks. The new tunes I can get use to while racing my heart out. Maybe there will be a classic will be made here, and be found in future Mario Kart games. I really hope they stick with some of them. This game also takes advantage of Dolby Pro Logic II, and sounds amazing. The 5.1 Surround Sound really adds effect to the game, whether it's the sound of you're Kart or the sound of your character grunting because he has hit a Banana. You may even hear a Nintendo Classic tune and just sit there and let your mind bring back the memories.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mario Wii is defiantly a Must-Have game for the Wii. Wi-Fi is also a great thing to have, if you own this game or are planning on getting the game. The Mario Kart Channel is also a great thing to use, so you will never be bored with this game. You'll always be able to download new Time Trial ghosts with you're Wi-Fi
connection.
