Pit
Description:
The protagonist in Kid Icarus. Pit's Sacred Bow of Palutena is actually two blades combined. He can separate them or unite them at will for use in battle.
The arrows Pit's bow unleashes shoot out like beams of light. Players can control the curves of their trajectories.
Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Palutena's Arrow
Side Special Move: Angel Ring
Up Special Move: Wings of Icarus
Down Special Move: Mirror Shield
|
Final Smash:
Palutena's Army: Pit is the captain of Palutena’s Army, the guardians of the Goddess of Light! It’s said that when he raises his voice to heaven, this goddess will appear. Well, I guess technically that’s not her actual size. She just chose to manifest herself as something that big. It’s very difficult to dodge a charge of Centurions, splitting the sky like a storm. Then again, the Centurions scatter after they clash. They each make one attack and then fall in battle.

Wario
Description:
Many fans clamored for Wario to join the fray, and so now he finally makes his appearance...in his WarioWare costume. It’s rumored that this unpredictable character will give birth to a form of martial arts that other characters cannot even see.
Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Chomp
Side Special Move: Wario Bike
Up Special Move: Corkscrew
Down Special Move: Wario Waft
|
Final Smash:
Wario-Man: Even after becoming Wario-Man, you control him as you normally would. And he doesn’t unleash any overwhelmingly powerful attacks. But he is able to negate a variety of moves and boasts some rather odd abilities... His special moves are also powered up, but the one thing you can’t do is ride his bike. Don’t do it.

Zero Suit Samus
Description:
When Samus destroys her Power Suit, she’s left with the Zero Suit. What she’s lost in power and weaponry, she makes up for in speed! Once she turns that Paralyzer in her hand into a whip, she has quite a long reach as well! Not exactly the straightforward fight you thought it was, huh?
Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Paralyzer
Side Special Move: Plasma Whip
Up Special Move: Plasma Wire
Down Special Move: Flip Jump
|
Final Smash:
Power Suit Samus: When you let loose with Zero Suit Samus’s Final Smash, she reequips her Power Suit. Yes, Zero Suit Samus isn’t the stoutest of fighters, so picking up a Smash Ball is cause for relief. The whirl of energy that appears before Zero Suit Samus’s transformation sucks enemies into the chaos. Thing is, you’re going to have to put that command in pretty darn fast in order for it to work. If you’ve set your taunts to the +Control Pad on your controller, you’ll eventually input the command correctly if you rapidly hammer up and down on the +Control Pad.

Ike
Description:
From Fire Emblem, Ike appears! The fact that he can wield a two-handed sword with a single hand is a testament to his magnificent strength. He brings his special move "Aether" with him as he crashes the Brawl party. Try for a single-stroke finishing blow with his mighty blade!
Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Eruption
Side Special Move: Quick Draw
Up Special Move: Aether
Down Special Move: Counter
|
Final Smash:
Great Aether: It’s Ike’s Final Smash, Great Aether. As the name suggests, it’s a more powerful version of Aether. But, you do have make sure you hit with the Final Smash. Its range of impact is pretty large, so you just have to get the right timing. In multiplayer brawls, you can move freely as long as you aren’t the one who’s suffering the Final Smash.

Pokemon Trainer
Description:
No way! The Pokémon Trainer has finally arrived. And it looks like he doesn’t do his fighting directly. Instead, he uses the three Pokémon with him—Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard—to do the fighting for him.
Special Moves:
Pokemon 1: Charizard
Pokemon 2: Squirtle
Pokemon 3: Ivysaur
Down Special Move: Pokémon Change
|
Final Smash:
Triple Finish: It’s the Pokémon Trainer’s Final Smash: Triple Finish! It combines the powers of Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard! These are the moves they use. Isn’t it a beautiful combination? A Fire-type attack, a Water-type attack, and a Grass-type attack? (Not really.) If an opposing Pokémon gets the Smash Ball, at the very least take care to not be standing immediately beside it.

Diddy Kong
Description:
Donkey Kong’s pal has finally joined the battle! Unfortunately, screenshots fail to truly capture the way he moves. He scrambles around the battle, using whimsical fighting moves while wielding both his Rocketbarrel Boost and Peanut Pop Gun!
Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Peanut Popgun
Side Special Move: Monkey Flip
Up Special Move: Rocketbarrel Boost
Down Special Move: Banana Peel
|
Final Smash:
Rocketbarrel Barrage: The weapons Diddy Kong wields are his Peanut Popgun and his Rocketbarrel Boost. Wow! The controls make it feel like you’re flying with a rocket pack! It’s really fun. Tilt his body left and right to move. The Peanut Popgun fires straight down, so you change the peanut firing angles by tilting Diddy left to right. I highly suggest mastering this.

Meta Knight
Description:
It's Meta Knight, whose introduction was delayed for some reason. He's Kirby's...rival? Despite being almost all head, his mask and cape exude coolness. He overwhelms enemies with his mach-speed sword!
Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Mach Tornado
Side Special Move: Drill Rush
Up Special Move: Shuttle Loop
Down Special Move: Dimensional Cape
|
Final Smash:
Galaxia Darkness: He swirls his cape out in a wide sweep, but if he swings and misses, nothing happens. It’s a waste of the Smash Ball. Be sure to hit with that swing of the cape. The field is swallowed by darkness, and Meta Knight slices strongly through it. Enemies get launched helplessly. Talk about cool. But there is even more coolness to this move. So, while this move’s initial attack range is relatively narrow, if you hit with it, most everyone suffers. Aim well and sally forth.

Description:
The legendary mercenary makes his miraculous Smash debut! This law-breaking news roared around the world. He comes fully loaded with cool and showy weapons that only he could possess. Couple them with these different worlds, and it will clear a path to new horizons.
Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Hand Grenade
Side Special Move: Remote Controlled Missile
Up Special Move: Cypher
Down Special Move: C4
|
Final Smash:
Grenade Launcher: Snake grabs the rope ladder the helicopter drops and takes out his grenade launcher! So, the thing to do is shoot, right? You control the targeting reticule and press the attack button to fire grenades one at a time. There are six rounds, and when you run out...It ends when you shoot 12 rounds or run out of time. Snake then climbs back up to return to battle. It’s probably better to just shoot all your rounds rather than run out of time leaving ammo behind...but if you just shoot indiscriminately, your shots may be dodged.
|
Lucas
Description:
The youth with the psychic powers has appeared—it’s Lucas! He makes his anticipated debut from the Japan-only release MOTHER 3. While he is timid in nature, he fights splendidly. Is it possible he can surpass even Ness?!
Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: PK Freeze
Side Special Move: PK Fire
Up Special Move: PK Thunder
Down Special Move: PSI Magnet
|
Final Smash:
PK Starstorm: Lucas’s Final Smash is PK Starstorm! It’s a move in which he unleashes a rapid barrage of meteorlike PSI power. It may be that it’s less advantageous on larger stages and more advantageous on smaller ones. There are a variety of moves like this that have clear advantages and disadvantages depending on the terrain.

Special Moves:

Up Special Move: Spring Jump
Down Special Move: Spin Charge
|
Final Smash:

If you boost your speed recklessly, you’ll pass by people too quickly, making it easier for them to dodge. Speed control is important with this Final Smash.

Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Inhale
Side Special Move: Waddle Dee Throw
Up Special Move: Super Dedede Jump
Down Special Move: Jet Hammer
|
Final Smash:
Waddle Dee Army: King Dedede’s Final Smash is a mountain of Waddle Dees called the Waddle Dee Army! Hmm. I guess it’s in his character to leave the work to someone else. You can’t tell from a picture, but the speed of these Waddle Dees is quite a bit faster than the ones he normally calls. You need to watch out to make sure you don’t suddenly get swept off the screen. But the most dangerous thing of all is that the spike-headed Gordos are also mixed into the crowd.

Pikmin and Olimar
Description:
Goodness! Captain Olimar joins the fray with five colors of Pikmin in tow! He plucks Pikmin from the ground and they fight as his allies. Without Pikmin, Olimar can’t even do a Smash Attack. And the short-lived Pikmin tend to scatter. Theirs is a fated symbiotic relationship.
Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Pikmin Pluck
Side Special Move: Pikmin Throw
Up Special Move: Pikmin Chain
Down Special Move: Pikmin Order
|
Final Smash:
End of Day: Captain Olimar always makes sure to return to his spaceship before nightfall when he’s out exploring new planets. Why is that? But dishing out damage alone won’t score you points. The more people in the brawl, the more damage you can expect this attack to do, but beware—another opponent may steal the KO you’ve worked so hard to set up. In a one-on-one match, this Final Smash won’t deal as much damage, but hey, there’s no worry that someone else will steal your KO, either.

Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Fireball
Side Special Move: Cape
Up Special Move: Super Jump Punch
Down Special Move: F.L.U.D.D.
|
Final Smash:
Mario Finale: The explosion launches out and expands vertically as it travels, so in order to inflict the most damage possible on enemies, it's best to release this from a slight floating or midair position on either the left or right side of the screen. If Mario launches this at you, you'd better flee!

Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Hero's Bow
Side Special Move: Gale Boomerang
Up Special Move: Spin Attack
Down Special Move: Bomb
|
Final Smash:
Triforce Slash: Is he using the Triforce to slash enemies? Or is it the Triforce doing the slashing? If you suffer this fate, there is little hope for you. But remember: damage alone will not finish you in Smash. If you’re lucky enough to strike solid ground, you just might be saved.

Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Inhale
Side Special Move: Hammer
Up Special Move: Final Cutter
Down Special Move: Stone
|
Final Smash:
Cook Kirby: Kirby is quite the glutton. He apparently even does his own cooking. Welcome to Kirby’s cooking class! But is that a real dish? Something like stone soup, maybe? Can you put just anything in there? Are you sure?

Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Thunder Jolt
Side Special Move: Skull Bash
Up Special Move: Quick Attack
Down Special Move: Thunder
|
Final Smash:
Volt Tackle: What is Volt Tackle? It’s Pikachu’s Final Smash! That pretty much describes it. You don’t need an Electric Ball to unleash it, but you do need a Smash Ball. It flies through the air wildly, so take care not to lose control. But if it ends in midair, something terrible will happen.

It’s so big, it might be hard to turn around. But it’s law-breaking power and authority is unstoppable.

Now it’s time for Zero Suit Samus to show what she can do. It looks like you can throw the pieces of her suit that end up on the ground.

Zelda
Description:
Just like Link, Zelda’s design has also changed.
She has a slightly more subdued color scheme. Her movement capabilities are not that good, but her magic adds power to her physical attacks. There’s a reason why her hands and feet glow, after all.
Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Nayru's Love
Side Special Move: Din's Fire
Up Special Move: Farore's Wind
Down Special Move: Transform
|
Final Smash:
Light Arrow: In the final battles of many of the Legend of Zelda games, you didn’t want to be low on arrows. A lot of times they were Silver Arrows, though... When you’re using Sheik, some of the characteristics of the attack will change, like the direction your opponent gets knocked in. It’s good to use the character whose attack is best suited to the cover on each stage, but you probably shouldn’t worry TOO much about that.

Bowser
Description:
The biggest and the heaviest of fighters, Bowser has a slightly different flavor this time around! To be honest, there are a LOT of characters that offer a slightly different flavor this time around. If you think they’re all going to be the same as they have been, it’ll be rough for you.

Standard Special Move: Fire Breath
Side Special Move: Flying Slam
Up Special Move: Whirling Fortress
Down Special Move: Bowser Bomb
|
Final Smash:
Giga Bowser Transformation: What?! You can control Giga Bowser from Super Smash Bros. Melee?! What, you think just because he’s huge, you can needle him with lots of little attacks and keep him off balance? Heh heh... Yeah, you keep thinking that. You can only be Giga Bowser for a short time, though, so you’d better take your enemies out while you can.

Yoshi
Description:
Yoshi’s back and bursting with personality! He can launch consecutive attacks and even smack around enemies below him mid-flight. Among other things, he can now use his up special move, the Egg Toss, to increase the distance of his jump. That’s enough to earn him a hearty welcome, isn’t it?
Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Egg Lay
Side Special Move: Egg Roll
Up Special Move: Egg Throw
Down Special Move: Yoshi Bomb
|
Final Smash:
Super Dragon: Yoshi soars through the air spouting bursts of flame, behavior reminiscent of the legendary tricolor Yoshi. It feels like, um...beauty and elegance...mixed with clumsiness. Certainly, no one’s ever seen Yoshi like this! Being able to fly around is nice, as is giving undivided attention to his attacks. Yoshi can live as he likes, for a brief period of time.

Special Moves:
Standard Special Move: Ice Shot
Side Special Move: Squall Hammer
Up Special Move: Belay
Down Special Move: Blizzard
|
Final Smash:
Iceberg: The Ice Climbers’ Final Smash is Iceberg! Calling it Iceberg is a bit problematic. I mean, it’s not like... Ice doesn’t just make the available ledges smaller and more slippery, but it also damages your opponents! But, of course, the Ice Climbers can handle it no problem. They look as cool and refreshed as ever.
